A Simple Strategy for Connection

Connection with your neurodiverse child can feel tricky.

Literal thinking.

Emotional dysregulation.

Conversation blocks.

Black-and-white thinking.

All of these regular occurences for neurodiverse kids can make communication feel hard. Just seeing how your child's day was can seem like a Herculean task.

Cue "Rate Your Day." It's a simple strategy to cultvate connection and communication with your child.

Simply, ask your child on a scale of 1-5, how was your day? 1 being the "Worst Day Ever" and 5 being the "World's Best Day."

And then just listen. Give them space to share their rating and why they rated their day that way.

This type of rating scale gives kids a concrete way to share about their day in a way that feels easy + accessible.

Have you tried to have your child rate their day? If so, how did it go? I'd love to hear.

Love,

Christy
