The Gift of the Precious Present

Another Monday morning … groggy, tired, uninspired.  The pure exhaustion of the early morning grips us all, and we sit silently, just waiting for the coffee to perk.

And then an inspiration comes, a reminder to cherish the gift of the precious present.  Nothing short of a miracle, I realize that we are going to have an extra 15 minutes before the bus arrives.  My sweet girl and I snuggle up at the kitchen table, working on her journal and making blueprints for egg carton guitars.  And then, the boys join our morning kitchen dance party, shaking our tail feathers as a family.  And just as quickly as it began, it ends.  We hustle.

Shoes – check!

Backpack – check!

Good morning kisses – check!

And that sweet moment of bliss fades off into the sunrise as I wave good-bye.  The bus quietly pulls away.

And in that instant, I realized the true beauty of this morning.  The gift of the precious present.  The joy and happiness and pure love that our family experienced … that all of us can experience in an instant.

And yet how do we access that gift?  How do we tune into love + connection?

Presence.  Be here now.  Sink into the beauty of the present moment.  Set aside the to do list and the worries and the wonderings and just recognize that in this moment, all is well.

Gratitude.  Be thankful for the tiniest moments, for that text from a dear friend or early morning snuggles from your sweet children.  Allow yourself to see the beauty and abundance that abounds if we only choose to look.

Love.  In each moment, let love lead the way. Listen to the whispers of your heart. Give that extra hug. Write that lunchbox love note. Remember to say “I love you” one extra time.

Today, may you cherish the gift of the precious present.  How do you capture moments of gratitude in your home? I’d love to hear.

Love,

Christy
